State lawmakers begin meeting this afternoon in special session in an effort to resolve an expected $1 billion shortfall before the fiscal 2018-2019 budget year begins July 1st.
It's a 17-day get together called by Governor Edwards a week ago last Friday.
Legislators will be tasked with finding revenue to replace expiring temporary tax measures, and failing that, seeing massive cutbacks in programs and services.
