Entergy is another step closer to construction of a new gas-fired power plant in New Orleans East.
It's been a hotly-debated issue, but the New Orleans City Council voted six to one Thursday in favor of the 226-megawatt facility with a price tag exceeding $200 million.
Utility customers will offset the cost with an average monthly increase of nearly six dollars for up to 30 years.
