A Louisiana private investigator will be locked up for 18 months for trying to access President Trump's federal tax information.

NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune reports the crime is said to have taken place just weeks before the 2016 election.

A Lafayette man, 32-year-old Jordan Hamlett, pleaded guilty in December to a federal charge of misusing Trump's social security number in six unsuccessful attempts to retrieve his tax info through a U.S. Department of Education financial website.

Hamlett is to report to prison May 28 after being sentenced in Baton Rouge yesterday.
