State police say a Marrero man is dead after his car slammed into the rear of a stopped 18-wheeler on I-10 West in Ascension Parish.
Troopers say 51-year-old Dean Critten died at the scene.
The impact left his vehicle lodged under the trailer portion of the semi forcing authorities to shut down the interstate under the scene could be processed and cleared.
The truck being operated by a 60-year-old Baton Rouge man was pulled off on the shoulder of the roadway when the wreck happened around 2 a.m. Wednesday.
