Violent Crime Rate In New Orleans Lowest Since 1970s

Police line belt

Homicide and shooting rates in New Orleans are at the lowest levels in decades as the city is on track to have the lowest number of murders since 1971 by the end of the year.

While crime rates in the Orleans Parish are still among the highest in the country, most categories of crime have dropped this year.

This is considered to be a victory for public officials in the city, who are crediting cameras and the Tactical Intelligence Gathering and Enforcement Response teams for the decreased crime rates.
