Ex-Rookie NOPD Cop Admits To Beating Up Man Outside Bar

He's still awaiting sentencing, but a former rookie New Orleans cop admits he took part in beating up a man last July outside a bar.

The attack, allegedly carried out by two off-duty NOPD rookie officers who accused the Hispanic victim of being a "fake American," took place near the Mid-City Yacht Club and left Jorge Gomez with severe injuries to his face.

John Galman, 27, pleaded guilty yesterday to simple battery and faces up to six-months in jail, while the other ex-cop, Spencer Sutton, 25, is set for trial next month.

The altercation with the ex-Marine occurred when the officers got into a dispute with Gomez about wearing camouflage clothing, leading to their firing the next day.
