Tougher offshore drilling requirements put in place following the 2010 Deepwater Horizon disaster off the Louisiana coast could be eased soon.

The Interior Department is scheduled to take the wraps off a plan today to roll back current requirements for the real-time monitoring of offshore drilling and mandatory third-party certifications of blow-out preventers.

The Trump administration predicted earlier the reg changes could save the oil industry nearly a billion dollars over the next decade.
