The driver who crashed his truck into Lake Pontchartrain yesterday is facing charges.
Police say Clarence Abner, the driver, admitted he was looking at a map on his phone when he lost control and crashed through the guardrail on the Causeway Bridge. Abner will be charged with careless operation, driving with an expired license, failure to register, and failure to wear a seatbelt.
Southbound lanes on the Causeway Bridge were shut down temporarily today while crews pulled the vehicle from the water.
