Torrential Rain Splashing On Footpath

One person is dead after a severe storm caused flash flooding in south Louisiana.

The East Baton Rouge Parish coroner's office says 37-year-old William Jackson drowned when his car became submerged in water near the ramp on I-110 at Chippewa.

Mayor President Sharon Weston Broome said her heart went out to Jackson's family and she is proud of the continuing efforts of first responders and city personnel.

Several people were already hurt after a tornado hit an Exxon facility's salt dome.

Most of Baton Rouge and surrounding parishes were blanketed by heavy rainfall.
