Wednesday Update: LDH Reports Additional 1,891 COVID-19 Cases

The Louisiana Department of Health has added an additional 1,891 cases to the state's official COVID-19 count, bringing the total number of cases reported since the pandemic began to 70,151.

"95% of the cases reported to the state today were community spread. 39% of the cases reported today are of individuals aged 29 and under," LDH tweeted Wednesday, adding the collection dates for the majority of new cases were in the last seven days.

The number of hospitalizations dipped slightly, down three to 1,022. The number of patients on ventilators dropped by four to 105.

Twenty additional deaths brought the total in Louisiana blamed on COVID-19 to 3,231.

LDH also updated the count of presumed recovered from the coronavirus to 46,334.
