The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office says it has arrested two men for stealing almost $50,000 worth of catalytic converters.

According to court records released yesterday, Garic Aleman, 50, and Averice Craddock, 41, are accused of stealing more than 325 catalytic converters from various locations, including a car dealership in Covington, a retirement home in Slidell, and storage facilities in Mandeville and Pearl River.

The pair then sold the equipment to a scrapyard in Gulfport, Mississippi.

Prosecutors say Aleman and Craddock are both facing multiple counts of theft.
