Jason Williams Sworn In As New Orleans District Attorney

Jason Williams was officially sworn in as the New Orleans District Attorney yesterday.

Williams, a former city councilman, said the city will "no longer clog up court dockets with cases that arise out of addiction, mental illness, and homelessness."

Williams vowed to clamp down on violent crime in the city, stating that he will hold people who harm the community accountable.

The New DA's swearing in comes as he faces federal charges of tax fraud. Williams's trial was supposed to begin yesterday, but it has been delayed by the pandemic.
