The Jefferson Parish Coroner's Office is issuing a warning about a deadly batch of drugs containing fentanyl synthetics.
A health bulletin issued yesterday says the coroner has linked two overdose deaths to a pair of fentanyl-based drugs used as elephant tranquilizers.
Officials say they have found both carfentanil and para-fluorofentanyl for the first time in the parish, which can be used in pill form or a powder similar to cocaine or heroin.
The coroner says these drugs are sold to users who think they are getting heroin or fentanyl and do not realize they are more dangerous.
