An 18-year-old Kenner man is behind bars after police found a "significant quantity of explosive materials" at his home.

Authorities say they arrested Devin Staehle Monday after receiving several complaints about loud explosions in neighborhoods in northwest Kenner since October of 2020.

Investigators say it was difficult for officers to pinpoint where the explosions were coming from but were able to find Staehle following a recent Crime Stoppers tip.

According to reports, a significant amount of combustible chemicals were found at the teen's home that when mixed, can create flash powder and gun powder.

Staehle later admitted that he would manufacture fireworks and explosive devices to either sell or detonate them near the levee areas of Kenner.

It is unknown what charges he will face, if any.
