The first-ever veto override session in Louisiana history is over without any changes to the 28 vetoes issued by Gov. John Bel Edwards.

The session could have lasted until Saturday, but lawmakers closed it out yesterday after failing to gather enough support to revive bills vetoed by the Governor.

One controversial veto concerned a law that would ban transgender individuals from participating in women's sports, which had enough votes in the Senate but not in the House.

Edwards commented on the override session, saying the lawmakers behind the effort are good people, and he will continue to work with them.
