The Louisiana State Fire Marshal's Office is encouraging residents to use fireworks safely over the 4th of July.
More than 500 retail fireworks permits have been issued for the 2022 July 4th season.
Officials remind families to buy fireworks only from a stand that has a permit.
People should also be aware of where fireworks can be set off legally and never let a child or an impaired person light a fuse.
Explosive devices should be set off at least 200 feet from a home or a car.
