The National Hurricane Center is watching a tropical wave over the southwestern Caribbean Sea for further development.

The NHC said Tuesday the wave is expected to move over Central America before emerging into the Bay of Campeche, where an area of low pressure could form by Friday.

"Some gradual development of this system is possible while it moves northwestward over the southwestern Gulf of Mexico through the weekend," forecasters added.
