New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity is reporting the theft of $10,000 worth of shingles on Monday night.

A Habitat spokesperson says thieves made off 270 bundles of donated shingles, enough to put roofs on four homes.

The shingles were stored in a fenced area behind the Habitat office building on Elysian Fields.

The nonprofit is seeking donations to cover the losses.

About two weeks ago, somebody stole about $4,500 worth of tools from a Habitat storage pod.
