Three Hondurans are safe after crew members of a New Orleans-based cruise ship rescued them from a boat adrift in the Gulf of Mexico on Sunday.

The U.S. Coast Guard asked the crew of the Carnival Valor for their assistance in rescuing the stranded boaters.

The cruise ship changed course and sailed 35 nautical miles to the scene, where the crew used a lifeboat to rescue the boaters.

The Carnival Valor will drop the three men at Costa Maya today.

The cruise ship is still expected to return to Port NOLA on Thursday, right on schedule.
