The Jefferson Parish School Board is moving ahead with new school attendance zone maps for the coming school year.
Board members voted Wednesday night to approve the new maps, which are based on the Infrastructure and Efficiency Plan to consolidate several schools.
About 6,100 of the district's nearly 47,000 students will be reassigned to different schools.
The board will send letters to affected families to let them know which schools their kids will attend in the year ahead.
