A recently fired shipyard worker is dead after fatally shooting two former coworkers on Monday.

The suspect was killed a few hours later in a shootout with Jefferson Parish deputies.

Deputies responded around 1 p.m. to the reported shooting at FMT Shipyard & Repairs on Peters Road in Harvey.
