The Pittsburgh Pirates are signing LSU star Paul Skenes to a record-breaking deal.
The #1 pick in the 2023 MLB Draft has agreed to a contract that includes a $9.2 million signing bonus, shattering the previous record held by 2020 top pick Spencer Torkelson, who signed an $8.42 million deal with the Detroit Tigers.
The big contract comes less than a month after Skenes was named the Most Outstanding Player of the College World Series after helping LSU win the national championship.
Fellow Tiger Dylan Crews, who went second-overall to the Washington Nationals, has not signed his deal yet.
