A New Orleans high school is delaying the start of classes by a week because of problems with its air conditioning amid the heat wave.

The school year was scheduled to start today at St. Katharine Drexel Preparatory School, but it's being pushed back to next Thursday.

School officials made the announcement on the school's web site, noting unexpected difficulties in getting the parts needed to repair the A/C system.

The prep school on Magazine Street is an all-girls school for grades 8 through 12.
