Attorney General Jeff Landry is declining to participate in a televised debate among Louisiana candidates for governor.

Polls say Landry is the front-runner in the race so far.

On Thursday, Landry's communications director said the participation of the Urban League raises questions about the debate's impartiality.

The spokesman says the Urban League is a Democratic organization that is "anti-Trump, anti-Second Amendment, and soft on crime."

Candidates Sharon Hewitt, Hunter Lundy, John Schroeder, Stephen Waguespack, and Shawn Wilson say they plan to participate in the September 7 debate.
