A judge in Union Parish has denied the dismissal of criminal charges against a state trooper in the death of a man in 2019.

State Police Master Trooper Kory York is charged with negligent homicide and malfeasance in the death of Ronald Greene.

In his decision, 3rd District Judge Thomas Rogers ruled he did not believe a key witness for the prosecution was influenced by hearing a taped statement given by York.

Greene's family was told he had died in a high-speed car crash, but in 2021 video surfaced of York and four other troopers beating, tasing, and dragging Greene while he was handcuffed and shackled.

The ruling means charges against two other officers may also go forward.
