A special legislative session is now underway in Louisiana.

In his first address to the legislature since taking office, Gov. Jeff Landry urged them to pass a new congressional map that features a second black-majority district, or else the courts will do it.

A federal judge has ruled that the current map violates the Voting Rights Act.

In the eight-day session, the legislature will also take on a new Louisiana Supreme Court map, as well as an attempt to move the state from open primaries to closed primaries.
