The New Orleans City Council will vote this Thursday on a motion to evict Mayor LaToya Cantrell from the Pontalba apartment.

Council members decided six months ago to revoke Cantrell's use of the publicly-owned apartment.

Cantrell ignored a deadline at noon on Monday demanding her to hand over the keys. Her refusal to meet the deadline prompted the council to take action.

The apartment could produce nearly $36,000 a year in rental revenue for the city.
